DEATH OF
MR. CHARLES VOSS
Aged 99 (two months short of his hundredth birthday)
Mr. Voss joined the Club in 1955, was Captain in 1959 and President 1977-78. He was latterly an Honorary Member of the club and lived in Devon.
On Monday 11th July 36 members of the Grey Nags attended the Captains Away Day at Cherwell Edge Golf Club. We were blessed by superb weather and enjoyed a challenging course which was in very good condition.
The carvery lunch was excellent and satisfied even the largest appetites !!
The winning team, led by Birthday Boy Alan Fearn, scored 118 points in the Rumble competition.
Nearest the pin was David Cowan and longest drive Alan Fearn. Roland Oliver followed up on his recent Hole in One at Penn with an Eagle two at the second hole.
All in all a very enjoyable outing.

The above competition, abandoned on Saturday 16th July due to course flooding, will now be re-played on Saturday 3rd September.
Members who ‘signed-in’ to the competition have had their entry fees refunded. The competition remains open for ‘touchscreen’ and ‘on-line’ entries/withdrawals.
All players previously entered remain on the start sheet.

The Senior Ladies Open attracted 120 ladies from 28 clubs. The competition played was teams of three and age related adding the players ages together and split into 3 groups. Group A (150 to 186 years) Group B (187 to 203 years) and Group C (204 years plus). Total age being 7871.
Overall winners – Jackie Taylor, Rosemary Holding & Elizabeth Holden from The Warwickshire with 83 points
Group A – Winners were Kate Bridgwater, Sheila Mackay & Jayne Keeson – The Warwickshire with 79 points. Runners-up were home players Tina Bruder, Nancy Williamson & Gill Thorpe with 76 points.
Group B – Winners were Kath Howell & Joan Smith home players with Gill Nichols from South Herefordshire with 72 points. Runners-up Barbara Davies, Janet Tomlinson & Kate Brown from Chipping Norton with 70 points.
Group C – Winners were Catherine Pritchard, Mal Williams & Mavis Dale all home players with 78 points. Runners-up Rosemary Dutton, Carolyn Cowley & Muriel Paxton from Feldon Valley with 77 points.
Nearest the pin winners. Visitor Judy Turner from Ladbrook Park at the 8th hole and member Margaret Wilson at the 11th hole.
