Feb. Winter Open – Cancelled

Regrettably, our February Winter Open on Wednesday 15th is now cancelled due to frozen conditions. We were hopeful of the course recovering with rising temperatures through the early part of this week, however the frost is too severe.

Our last remaining Winter Open for the 2011-2012 series is on Wednesday 14th March and the sheet is now open for bookings. Please contact by either reply to this email or one of the contact numbers below.

January Winter Open Report

January 2012 Winter Open Report

On Wednesday 18^thJanuary Leamington & County Golf Club held its third Winter Open of the 2011-2012 series. After severe frosts from the previous week the event was looking in doubt, however the warming temperatures arrived just in time to produce receptive greens and perfectly playable conditions throughout.

The early clubhouse lead was set at a level 36 points by numerous competitors as the early starters were faced with a cold and challenging breeze. As the wind calmed into the afternoon the lower scores began to appear with the eventual winner posting a score of 45 points (7hcp – 70 gross). Fantastic score by Luke Brown from Stoneleigh, well done Luke.

After the scores had been finalised the presentation took place in the main lounge with the winners collecting their just rewards for a fine day’s play. The final standings can be seen on the attached document.

On behalf of the club we would like to thank you all who took part and made the day possible. Many thanks must also go to the Pro Shop staff Julian Mellor and Lee Brotherhood for their hard work in the organising the event, club Captain Phil Halford for handicaps and the bar and catering staff for their fabulous food and hospitality.

We look forward to seeing you in our next Winter Open on February 15^th which promises to be a strong field with the sheet filling up fast. To book your tee time please call the Pro Shop on 01926 428014.
