Apprentices
Here at Leamington and County we are trying to make golf accessible to everyone by making a pathway that takes people through from beginner to player, in easily managed steps.
We run group lessons on Mondays and Saturdays at the very low price of £36, which covers 6 lessons. At the moment the majority of people having coaching are women. The groups are never more than 8 people and are coached by our extremely good professional Julian. He has been teaching groups for 6 years.
Alongside lessons we gradually introduce people to playing on the course. Perhaps the first time is just one hole as part of the lesson increasing to 3 or 5 with the help of a club member.
Making the decision to join a club is a big step so we have managed this by making the step a smaller one by introducing an Apprentice membership category. In essence it is a membership that allows you to play on the course at restricted times but ones when the course is not busy and at a fraction of the normal subscription.
You can be an Apprentice for two years and at the end of that time you should have a clear view as to whether golf is the game for you.
On the last Thursday of the month, and a similar Saturday we organise play on the course for Apprentices and those aspiring to be, in the form of mini competitions or assisted play whichever is appropriate. You can, therefore, glide through the system moving at your own pace with similar standard people around you.
These dates are in addition to the sessions out on the course after lessons on Mondays and Saturdays that Pop arranges

To become an Apprentice, after completing the application form, you are invited to come and meet the Captain and talk about the club and go through the runnings of the club in a similar way to anyone applying to become a full member. This is so, if at any time during the two years you feel you would like to change to a full member you need only to pay the difference in subsription and again there is a seamless move to full membership.
