Grey Nags Texas Scramble

With the greens returning somewhere near to reality, and last Wednesday’s very welcome sustained downpour having largely washed in the remaining top dressing, eighteen Grey Nags teams thoroughly enjoyed the new season’s traditional opener of a very competitive Texas Scramble.

Judging from the buzz amongst the red wine afterwards, there were plenty of dramas on the course and any amount of near misses and heartbreaking examples of rank bad luck suffered by most and sundry !!

The worthy winners with a net 62.66 (7.33 handicap) were Peter Baker/Rod Collerton and Bill Hedley, closely followed by Roy Britain/Alan Fearn/David Halsall with a net 63.33 (6.66 h’cap) and Ian Allan/Tony Munton/Gerry Robbins with a 64.84(8.16 h’cap).

The 7.00 am competition start was successfully launched  and a good standard of golf was delivered on a cool morning with rather tricky overlying conditions.

We now look forward with some relish to our very important medal event on 26th April when we will all be trying our utmost to win the Sydney Grimwood Trophy and the inaugural Alan Upwood Trophy for the best gross score in that competition.
