Ladies’ Captain’s Chatter     March 2012

Spring is definitely in the air, birds are singing, bulbs blooming and I hope you are all enjoying good health.

Everyone who attended the “At Home” on Tuesday 13 March deserves a pat on the back for contributing to such a successful event.  Cancer Research UK will benefit from the £800 raised, the committee and I thank you all very much.

The golf season is now getting under way, please sign up for the knockout competitions and of course the summer eclectic.  For everyone to enjoy golf throughout the summer please note the following:
To encourage a better pace of play always be ready to tee off on time, not early and especially not late, (use the clock on the front of the clubhouse), which is usually accurate.
When you reach the green, place your trolley at point of exit, above the flag. On the green know your score, (prior to putting).  At the next hole ensure one player tees off and the other marks the card.

Saturday 14 April “Learn Golf in a Day”
Leamington & County are hosting this as part of Midland Golf Week to encourage the 16-23 age groups.  The taster day will allow participants to try all aspects of the game.
Please try to promote this event.  Angela Eadon has more details.

The International Match on Tuesday 17 April will be a two tee start which should ensure there is a
good crowd in the clubhouse to cheer the winning country.  The list will be posted soon and captains
appointed for Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales.
Please enter your name and enjoy a light lunch after with your team.

There are spaces for the Mixed Open on Sunday 20 May.  Please encourage all your friends to
enter this competition as well as the Spring Open on 29 May.

Interesting facts about Leamington Spa

  • Olympic Torch reaches Leamington Spa on 1July.
  • One of seven towns in the country where the property market outperforms the national average.
  • Fastest broadband speed in the country with an average download speed of 18.9 mbps
  • Therefore a great place for us all to live.

Unfortunately I am unable to play golf at present but I hope to fully fit in the not too distant future.
Fingers crossed.

Remember to contact anyone on the committee should you have any queries.

Best wishes to you all

Liz Murdoch.
