Texas Scramble – April 4th 2013

On yet another mid-winter’s day in April, sixty stalwart Grey Nags ventured forth on the first competition event of the 2013 Golfing Season to contest a very close fought Texas Scramble.

Despite a bitter wind and intensive snow flurries, which at times threatened to seriously settle on the greens, the standard of play was excellent with the leaders trading various birdies, and pars being the norm throughout.

Played on a very chilly morning, the “home” match against the Leamington Ladies, our first match of the year, was as keenly fought as ever.

After frustrating fog and rain induced abandonments, the Grey Nags’ Triathlon was eventually played on a wonderfully crisp and brilliantly sunny morning, with the exceptional light picking out the superb, freshly hand-mown greens.

Although understandably wet underfoot off the fairways, the tremendous condition of the course, despite the recent weather battering, invited good play and many of the Grey Nags responded to the call !
