Group Lessons

Adults and Junior Sessions

Adult Group Lessons

Group lessons for ladies and one for men, are run on Mondays and Saturdays and coached by the club’s professional Julian Mellor. The lessons are one hour and a course is for 6 weeks. All different levels are catered for. The group size is never more than 8. The cost is £36 for the course.

With the advantage of an indoor academy the sessions can be held whatever the weather. The practice field and the practice short game area allow for variety within the sessions and cover all elements of the game. There is an opportunity after the lesson to have a coffee and learn a few rules and points of etiquette of the game.

The groups are arranged with regard to the playing experience of the golfers but start with absolute beginners and move through all levels up to full playing members.

Attention is paid to the playing on the course and this is integrated into the lessons. To complement the lessons there are opportunities to go on the course accompanied by full members starting with one or two holes and progressing through to 9 holes played in different formats. Players who are not members pay a green fee to go on the course.

Anyone interested in the lessons should also look at the Apprentice members information which works alongside the lessons. See Members Apprentices.

Spring 2012

Now whatever your resolution is for 2012 I am sure it will include being fitter and doing more exercise. Where better to start than with golf lessons. This is to tell you about the second course for 2012 and advise you to book early to reserve yourself a place.Email me at angieeadon@aol.com

Congratulations to all of you who have managed to overcome the cold weather and keep playing and practising your golf. I believe the frozen ground has made for some interesting bounces! Hopefully things are going to warm up and we will be able to get out more. Poppy has told me those going out on the course, both after the lessons and on the last Thursdays and Saturdays, are making great progress.

Here are the dates of the next course and do sign in as soon as possible. Please don’t rely on me to remember what you say when we meet as by the time I have spoken to 5 groups I have forgotten what the first ones said. Call it old age or bad memory but if you email me your wishes are safe.

The dates are: Mondays  March 5th,12th,19th,26th,April 2nd, 9th.
                      Saturdays March 3rd,10th, 17th, 31st, April 7th, 14th.

10.30 -11.30  Improvers who are keen to go out on the course afterwards
11.30-12.30   Improvers who want to go out on the course
12.30 -1.30    Beginners
1.30 -2.30      Men Improvers

Saturday
12 noon Beginners and Improvers. We will split into two groups if the numbers dictate

I would expect most groups to stay the same but if anyone has any special request do contact me.
The beginners group has spaces so now is the time to mention it to anyone else you know who would like to get started.

The cost will stay at £36 due to the continuing support from the Warwickshire Golf Partnership.(Cheques to Leamington and County Golf Club Coaching).

Building on the great successes we had in 2011 I want to put the emphasis for many people on moving their practising from the field and academy, to on the course. This will mean the timing of lesson will reflect leaving time after the lesson to go out and therefore having the earlier lesson slots.

I believe many of you are definitely ready to become Apprentice members, if you would like to be. The form is downloadable from the web site under members Apprentices. If you would like more information do ring me on 07979862201. Apprentice membership is open to woman and men.

If you are reading this as the first time and you would like more information regarding these lessons do email me or give me a ring and I will be happy to give you more details without any obligation on your part.

Junior Lessons

Dates

I need to tell you all about the plans for the new coaching sessions. As you may or not know the top group are now very successful playing members of the club and as such need a revised type of coaching on the course. So their group will be moved out of our scheme. They also have a full programme of competitions organised throughout the summer. As from now these people will be contacted by Lee for the coaching in the Elite squad and Ian Salmon the junior chairman for everything else.

There will be some people who are members who still need to be in the coaching groups and this is fine. There is not an absolute cut off and whatever is the best for an individual junior will be the way forward.

Anyone who wants to move to be a junior member needs to download an application form from the website www.leamingtongolf.co.uk and after filling it in pass it to me or straight to the club secretary.

 The new format will be

10 am Beginners of various ages who will be moved to other groups, roughly according to age, when they have mastered the basics.

11 am Improvers aged 5-8

12 noon will be a teenagers group of mainly improvers although new people will be considered.

1pm will be improvers 8-12 yrs old Included in the group will be some competent  youngsters who we are going to be encourage to play more on the course, hopefully with the help of parents and club members. It is hoped some of them will get a junior handicap by the end of the summer if not before.

The dates for the next set of lessons are 25th FEB, 3RD, 17TH, 24TH, 31ST, 7TH April.

Lee will let juniors know of holiday courses, like the one this half term ones, as they are organised.

The focus for the improvers at 11 and 1 will be both the Skills Challenges, which will probably be held on April 4th And July 6th (these are free sessions), and the Young Masters at Stoneleigh on 11th April that some of you have entered which means how to play a hole and keep score.

The costs are still the same at £24 for the 6 weeks. Cheques payable to Leamington and County Golf Club Coaching and it would be appreciated if you could pay on the first day. I would urge you to email me to confirm your place and please do not rely on me to guess what you want.

The word is out about how successful our juniors are being and we have at least 10 juniors wanting to join the scheme so please book early.

Do contact me if you need any more informatio

Remember you do not need your own clubs we will provide them but if anyone has grown out of their clubs and wants to trade up please let me know as we have buyers waiting.

The costs remain the same thanks to support from the Golf Foundation and other groups that is £24 for the 6 lessons payable by the first lesson.  Cash or Cheques made out to Leamington and County Golf Club Coaching.

To express an interest either email angieeadon@aol.com or ring Angela Eadon  07979862201
