Adults and Junior Sessions
Adult Group Lessons
Group lessons for ladies and one for men, are run on Mondays and Saturdays and coached by the club’s professional Chris Thornton. The lessons are one hour and a course is for 6 weeks. All different levels are catered for. The group size is never more than 8. The cost is £36 for the course.
With the advantage of an indoor academy the sessions can be held whatever the weather. The practice field and the practice short game area allow for variety within the sessions and cover all elements of the game. There is an opportunity after the lesson to have a coffee and learn a few rules and points of etiquette of the game.
The groups are arranged with regard to the playing experience of the golfers but start with absolute beginners and move through all levels up to full playing members.
Attention is paid to the playing on the course and this is integrated into the lessons. To complement the lessons there are opportunities to go on the course accompanied by full members starting with one or two holes and progressing through to 9 holes played in different formats. Players who are not members pay a green fee to go on the course.
Anyone interested in the lessons should also look at the Apprentice members information which works alongside the lessons. See Members Apprentices.

Here are the dates of the next course and do sign in as soon as possible. Please don’t rely on me to remember what you say when we meet as by the time I have spoken to 5 groups I have forgotten what the first ones said. Call it old age or bad memory but if you email me your wishes are safe.

Building on the great successes we have had, I want to put the emphasis for many people on moving their practising from the field and academy, to on the course. This will mean the timing of lesson will reflect leaving time after the lesson to go out and therefore having the earlier lesson slots.
I believe many of you are definitely ready to become Apprentice members, if you would like to be. The form is downloadable from the web site under members Apprentices or click here to open the PDF. If you would like more information do ring me on 07979862201. Apprentice membership is open to woman and men.
If you are reading this as the first time and you would like more information regarding these lessons do email me or give me a ring and I will be happy to give you more details without any obligation on your part.
Junior Lessons -
Dates: The dates for the next set of lessons are 6 weeks starting
Saturday May 4th with our new assistant professional, Paul Aitken
Follow on set of lessons start 15th June and run until July 20th
(those already in the scheme should confirm their place in the follow on set please)
I need to tell you all about the plans for the new coaching sessions. As you may or not know the top group are now very successful playing members of the club and as such need a revised type of coaching on the course. So their group will be moved out of our scheme. They also have a full programme of competitions organised throughout the summer. As from now these people will be contacted by Paul for the coaching in the Elite squad and Ian Salmon the junior chairman for everything else.
There will be some people who are members who still need to be in the coaching groups and this is fine. There is not an absolute cut off and whatever is the best for an individual junior will be the way forward.
Anyone who wants to move to be a junior member needs to download an application form from the website www.leamingtongolf.co.uk and after filling it in pass it to me or straight to the club secretary.
Anyone who is a member and does not yet have a handicap and would like to take part in some free oncourse management sessions with our professional should contact me and I will try to arrange it. Angieeadon@aol.com
I have a lot of size 5 golf shoes if that is your size and a few smaller ones. Just ask me if you would like to borrow a pair. The junior golf Beenie hat with a club badge on is £6 and I have a few left.
Remember the Young Masters golf tournament entry forms on the web site under members, juniors and then across to Competiton forms. If you try on a smart phone they do not seem visable.
The last thing I am going to ask you is whether anyone has any clubs they have grown out of and want to sell/swap.
The new format will be
9 am Beginners of various ages who will be moved to other groups, roughly according to age, when they have mastered the basics
10 am Beginners and improvers. Youngsters who have completed a beginners course and want to improve
11 am Improvers aged 7-8 generally
12 noon will be improvers 8-12 yrs old Included in the group will be some competent youngsters who we are going to be encourage to play more on the course, hopefully with the help of parents and club members. It is hoped some of them will get a junior handicap by the end of the summer if not before.
1pm will be a teenagers group of mainly improvers although new people will be considered
The dates for the next set of lessons are 6 weeks starting
Saturday May 4th
Paul will let juniors know of holiday courses
The costs are still the same at £24 for the 6 weeks. Cheques payable to Leamington and County Golf Club Coaching and it would be appreciated if you could pay on the first day. I would urge you to email me to confirm your place and please do not rely on me to guess what you want.
The word is out about how successful our juniors are being and we have at least 10 juniors wanting to join the scheme so please book early.
Do contact me if you need any more information.
Remember you do not need your own clubs we will provide them but if anyone has grown out of their clubs and wants to trade up please let me know as we have buyers waiting.
The costs remain the same thanks to support from the Golf Foundation and other groups that is £24 for the 6 lessons payable by the first lesson. Cash or Cheques made out to Leamington and County Golf Club Coaching.

Junior Course Management
The development scheme at the golf club has identified a need to help juniors gain and make the most of their experience on the course. Paul is very aware of this and has agreed to help by taking some juniors on the course. There will be no cost to the juniors. This activity will be offered to members who have just started playing competitions, or are not yet playing in the junior competitions.
We would like to offer you the opportunity to take part in this activity. It is likely to take place on a Saturday afternoon after the teenage coaching group and take about two hours. It is not technique coaching as the lessons are, but course management etc.
I would expect you to go in groups of 3 or 4 as Paul sees fit.
Do get back to me and we will sort groups and times out to suit you and Paul.
Angie
Chair of Golf Development.
