Warwickshire Hearts
Warwickshire Hearts are a charity that provide Community First Responders to West Midlands Ambulance Service, attending 999 calls in the South Warwickshire area, including: Kenilworth, Warwick, Leamington Spa, Whitnash, Stratford upon Avon, Gaydon, Snitterfield, Long Marston, Illmington.
What is a Community First Responder?
Community First Responders (or CFRs) are local volunteers, trained to provide life-saving treatment to patients in the vital first few minutes of an emergency until an ambulance crew arrives. When effective treatment is provided quickly, lives can be saved and disability reduced. This is especially true for heart attacks and medical conditions which have caused someone to lose consciousness.
When a 999 call is received an ambulance response is dispatched. At the same time, a CFR on duty in the community is alerted/dispatched to attend the incident to ensure that help reaches the patient as quickly as possible, prior to an ambulance arriving.
Our team come from a variety of backgrounds and include doctors, paramedics, engineers, academics, and more.
